On April 9, 2024, the event organized by the Department of languages and literature at Khazar University together with the “Chapar” publishing house was dedicated to the life and contributions of Omar Faig Nemanzade, an outstanding intellectual, great enlightener who played an important role in shaping Azerbaijani public opinion, the progress of our national cult)re, and promoting new ideas. Opening the event, head of the Department of languages and literature of Khazar University Assoc. Prof. Dilbar Zeynalova spoke about the invaluable contributions of Omar Faig Efendi to the development of Azerbaijani journalism and stressed that he was one of the leaders of ideas of Mollanasreddinists. Then Prof. Acad.Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University, chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, was given the floor. He spoke in detail about O.F. Nemanzadeh’s role in the establishment of “Molla Nasreddin” magazine, his work in the “Shargi-Rus” newspaper with which he cooperated, and then in “Geyrat” printing house in Tbilisi and “Molla Nasreddin” magazine, his life path and memories. Isakhanli underscored Nemanzade’s multifaceted role as an advocate for enlightened-democratic ideals, a journalist, educator, and patriotic intellectual. In his speech, the speaker commended the activities of O. F. Nemanzadeh’s descendants, especially Ulviyya Pepinova, a promoter of his legacy, currently a representative of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Great Britain. Later, Yusif İlhamoğlu, the founder of “Chapar” magazine and Chapar publications, spoke about the special editions of the magazine dedicated to O. F. Nemanzadeh. The event concluded with Hamlet Isakhanli addressing questions from students and expressing gratitude to all participants.
