Avrasiya Akademiyasının rəsmi açılışı və “Avrasiya Əfsanəsi” kubokunun təqdim olunması mərasimi Eurasian Academy Opening and Eurasian Legend Award Ceremony
Avrasiya Akademiyasının yaranma tarixi. 2012-ci ildə bir qrup intelektuallar, elm və sənət adamları arasında həm beynəlxalq, həm də regional mahiyyət daşıyan bir Akademiyanın yaradılması barədə çox sayda məsləhətləşmələr oldu. Akademiyanın təsisçiləri, əsas prinsipləri, seçilmiş üzvlərə veriləcək mükafatın ideyası, elm, texnologiya və incəsənətin müxtəlif sahələrində fərqlənən şəxslərə veriləcək medallar, Akademiyanın adı və digər məsələlər haqqında ümumi fikrə gəlindi. 5 Qurucu üzv Azərbaycan, Türkiyə və ABŞ vətəndaşıdır: professor Halil İnalcık, professor Lütfi Zadə, professor Mahmut Gazi Yaşargil, bəstəkar Arif Məlikov və professor Hamlet İsaxanlı. Avrasiya Akademiyasının Baş idarəsinin Azərbaycanda olması qərara alındı. Avrasiya Akademiyası 28 sentyabr 2012-ci ildə Azərbaycan Respublikasının ədliyyə nazirliyi tərəfindən qeydiyyatdan keçdi. Üzvlərə veriləcək və adı “Avrasiya Əfsanəsi” olacaq mükafat, həmçinin Avrasiya Akademiyasının 5 medalı (Ibn Sina, Nəsirəddin Tusi, İbn Xəldun, Mirzə Fətəli Axundzadə və Üzeyir Hacıbəyli medalları) hazırlandı.
“Həqiqəti dərk etməyə və gözəlliyi duymağa can at” – bu, Avrasiya Akademiyasının devizidir. Elm həqiqqəti dərk etməyə, sənət gözəlliyi duymağa can atır. Avrasiya Akademiyası elmi və sənəti yanaşı tutan, hər ikisinin inkişafına töhfə verməyə, hər iki sahədə böyük işlər görən insanları qiymətləndirməyə can atır.
2016-ci il yanvarın 29-da Xəzər Universitetinin Mərmər salonunda Avrasiya Akademiyasının rəsmi açılışı və “Avrasiya Əfsanəsi” kubokunun təqdim olunması mərasimi keçirildi.
Mərasimdə Avropa, Asiya və Amerkanın müxtəlif ölkələrindən qonaqlar, görkəmli elm, ədəbiyyat və incəsənət xadimləri, elm və təhsil təşkilatçıları, hökumət və Milli Məclis üzvləri, səfirlər, şirkət başçıları və media mənsubları iştirak edirdilər. Mərasim Xəzər Universitetinin internet televiziyası və internet radiosu ilə canlı yayımlanırdı.
Mərasimdə qurucu üzvlərin üçü – professor Mahmut Gazi Yaşargil, bəstəkar Arif Məlikov və professor Hamlet İsaxanlı iştirak edirdilər. 100 yaşlı professor Halil İnalcık və 95 yaşlı professor Lutfizadə hərəkət məhdudiyyətlərinə görə bu məclisdə iştirak edə bilmirdilər. Açılış mərasimindən əvvəl Avrasiya Akademiyasının digər qurucu üzvləri onları ziyarət etmək, Avrasiya Akademiyasının qurucu üzvü kimi onları mükafatlandırmaq üçün Ankaraya, Bilkent Universitetinə və Kaliforniyaya, Berkeley universitetinə səfər etmişdilər. Onlara “Avrasiya Əfsanəsi” kuboku və diplom təqdim olunmuşdu.
Mərasim elm tarixi, Avrasiya Akademiyası və onun qurucuları haqqında a filmin nümayişi ilə başlandı.
Sonra Avrasiya Akademiyasının mərasimdə iştirak edən üç ququcu üzvünə “Avrasiya Əfsanəsi” kuboku və akademiyanın qurucusu sənədi təqdim olundu. Professor Mahmut Gazi Yaşargilə kuboku və sənədi Azərbaycan Milli Elmlər Akademiyasının vitse-prezidenti, akademik İsa Həbibəyli və Türkiyə Cümhüriyyətinin Azərbaycandakı Fövqəladə və Səlahiyyətli səfiri Alper Coşkun, professor Arif Məlikova Moldova Elmlər Akademiyasının Humanitar və İncəsənət Elmləri bölməsinin sədri Viktor Tsvirkun və TUBİTAKın, Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu başkan yardımcısı Orxan Hasekioglu, Professor Hamlet İsaxanlıya Gürcüstan Milli Elmlər Akademiyasının üzvü Nodar Mıtagvarıa və Türkiye Sağlık Enstitüleri Başkanı və Turkiye Cümhüriyyətinin Milli Elmlər Akademiyasının üzvü Fahrettin Keleştimur təqdim etdilər.

Avrasiya Akademiyasının açılışı münasibətilə təbrik göndərmək mənim üçün böyük bir şərəf və zövqdür. Təəssüf edirəm ki, bu vacib mərasimdə mən şəxsən iştirak edə bilmirəm. Buna səbəb 2016 – cı ilin əvvəlində mənim İsveçrə İncəsənət və Elmlər Akademiyasının yeni prezidenti kimi səlahiyyətlərimin başlamasıdır.
Bu gün Avrasiya Akademiyasının yaranması çox vacibdir və böyük perspektiv vəd edir. Qurumun yaranmasında əzm göstərən, müxtəlif ölkələrdən olan beş görkəmli şəxsiyyətin rolu böyükdür: Mən şəxsən onlara və sizin hamınıza təhsil sahəsinə, tədqiqat və innovasiyalara yardım etmək üçün göstərdiyiniz bu cəhddə böyük uğurlar arzu edirəm.
Sonda, ən əsası, bizim missiyamız akademik muxtariyyətin və azadlığın əhəmiyyətli olduğunu əks etdirir. Dövlətin elmi müəssisəyə müdaxiləsi rast gəlinən və uzaq olunması gərəkən ümumi bir təhlükədir. Bu nəcib məqsəd dünyanın, İsveçrə də daxil olmaqla, əksər milli konstitusiyalarının təməlini təşkil edir.
Bu fikirlərlə Bakıda sizin hamınızla xoş bir görüş arzu edirəm və Avrasiya Akademiyasının uğurlarının davamını gözləyirəm.

Ekologiya və təbii servətlər naziri Hüseyn Bağırov, Moldova Elmlər Akademiyasının Humanitar və İncəsənət Elmləri bölməsinin sədri Viktor Tsvirkun, TUBİTAKın, Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu başkan yardımcısı Orxan Hasekioglu, Türkiye Sağlık Enstitüleri Başkanı və Turkiye Cümhüriyyətinin Milli Elmlər Akademiyasının üzvü Fahrettin Keleştimur, Gürcüstan Milli Elmlər Akademiyasının üzvü Nodar Mıtagvarıa, Azərbaycan Milli Elmlər Akademiyasının vitse-prezidenti, akademik İsa Həbibəyli çıxış etdilər.
Mərasimdə Avrasiya Akademiyasının qurucu üzvləri akademiyanın ilk üzvünü seçdiklərini bildirdilər. Söz professor Hamlet İsaxanlıya verildi. O, ABŞ vətəndaşı Əli Cavanın üzv seçildiyini elan etdi və onun elmi fəaliyyəti haqqında məlumat verdi. Əli Cavan səhhəti ilə əlaqədar olaraq iştirak etmədiyinə görə “Avrasiya Əfsanəsi” kuboku və diplom rəmzi olaraq ABŞ-ın Azərbaycanda səfirliyinin ictimai əlaqələr üzrə başçısı Stefen Qaysa təqdim olundu.
Xəzər Universiteti adından Avrasiya Akademiyasına hədiyyə – Xəzər Universiteti Mədəniyyət mərkəzində mərkəzin direktoru, xalçaçı rəssam Afaq Kərimovanın dizaynı və rəhbərliyi altında tələbə və müəllimlər tərəfindən hazırlanmış “Nizami xalçası” qurucu üzvlərə təqdim edildi.
Sonra Avrasiya Akademiyasının yaranmasında xidmətlərinə görə Xəzər Universiteti Direktorlar və Qəyyumlar Şurasının müşaviri Nailəxanım İsayevaya və Avrasiya Akademiyasının kubok və medallarının dizaynının müəllifi xalçaçı rəssam Afaq Kərimovaya təşəkkür elan olundu.
Beləliklə, Azərbaycanın və müxtəlif ölkələrin görkəmli elm xadimlərinin iştirakı ilə tarixi hadisə baş verdi:Avrasiya Akademiyası ictimaiyyətə təqdim olundu, fəaliyyətə başladı.
The history of Eurasian Academy: In 2012, a group of intellectuals, scholars and artists began discussing the formation of a new regional and international Academy. They decided on the Academy’s founders; basic principles; the idea of awards to be given to elected members; medals to be given for outstanding contributions in science, technology and arts; the name of the Academy and other issues. The five founding members of the Academy are citizens of Azerbaijan, Turkey and the USA: Professor Halil Inalcik, Professor Lotfi Zadeh, Professor Mahmut Gazi Yasargil, Composer Arif Melikov, and Professor Hamlet Isaxanli. They decided that Eurasian Academy will be headquartered in Azerbaijan. On September 28, 2012, Eurasian Academy was registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Azerbaijan Republic. The Academy designed the “Eurasian Legend” which would be awarded to its members, as well as its 5 medals (named for Ibn Sina, Nasiraddin Tusi, Ibn Khaldun, M.F. Axundzadeh və U. Hajibeyli).
“Strive for truth, treasure beauty:” this is the motto of Eurasian Academy. Science strives to understand truth, and art strives to appreciate beauty. Eurasian Academy aims to pull the two together, to make contributions toward the development of both, and to recognize people making significant contributions to both spheres.
On January 29, 2016 at 16:00 in the Marble Hall of Khazar University’s Neftchilar Campus, the Eurasian Academy opening and Eurasian Legend award ceremony was held.
Participants included representatives from countries of Europe, Asia and America; selected scholars, academic and educational organizations; people of arts, literature and music; various government representatives and Members of Parliament; ambassadors; heads of corporations and members of the press. The ceremony was broadcast live on Khazar University’s internet TV channel and its internet radio station.
Three of the founding members of the Academy, Professor Mahmut Gazi Yasargil, composer Arif Melikov and Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, participated. 100-year-old Professor Halil Inalcik and 95-year-old Professor Lutfi Zadeh were unable to participate because of their mobility limitations. Because they were unable to participate, the other founders of Eurasian Academy traveled to Bilkent University in Ankara and University of California, Berkeley before the ceremony to visit them and present Eurasian Legend awards and certificates to them.
The ceremony began with a film about the history of academies, Eurasian Academy and the concept of its establishment.
Then the three founding members participating in the event were presented with Eurasian Academy awards.
Prof. Isa Habibeyli, Vice President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and the honorable Alper Coşkun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Azerbaijan, presented the award to Professor Mahmut Gazi Yasargil. Prof. Victor Tvircun, Chairman of the Section of Humanities and Arts of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, and Dr. Orkhan Hasekioglu, Vice President of TUBITAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, presented the award to Professor Arif Melikov. Prof. Nodar Mitagvaria, member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Fahrettin Keleştimur, Head of Turkish Health Institutes and member of Turkish National Academy of Sciences, presented the award to Professor Hamlet Isaxanli.

Dear Colleagues,
It is an honour and my sincere pleasure to speak to you on the occasion of the inauguration of the Eurasian Academy. I regret that I cannot be among you personally at this important event. This because of my term as the new President of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences started just at the beginning of 2016. At the same time, the Swiss Federal Council decided to launch a program to stabilize the federal budget for the next four years. This includes proposals for cuttings in the areas of education, research and innovation. This represents a major challenge for the Swiss Academies. It is encouraging and promising to witness the birth of such an institution today: It is the vision of five important personalities from different countries who persevered in making it happen. I personally wish them, and all of you, great success with your noble endeavour to assist the fields of education, research and innovation. Not for the first time in human history, enlightenment forms the base for serving human social development. Especially in a dramatically changing world, this future-oriented attitude is valid for all nations. The Eurasian Academy shall be no exception.
This ethos is also key for the work of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, which is the umbrella organisation of the country’s four Academies that cover all disciplines. These reach from the natural sciences over the social sciences, to medicine, engineering and technology. The oldest one among them, the Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences, just celebrated its 200th anniversary last year. The Academy served as catalyst for the first topographic map of Switzerland. Subsequently, the construction of a railway network and streets made it at all possible to unite the country’s geographically divided regions to a Swiss democratic, federal state. In contrast, the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences was established only in1983. This as a reflection the undisputable importance and the overwhelming development of the sector. Since life quality and sustainable development of a country’s society are directly linked to it, it cannot be highlighted enough.
Before the enlightenment period in Europe, monarchs, nobility and gentry established academies to counterweigh the role of the church as sole authority and expert body. Currently, we are observing a paradigm shift of the academies worldwide. The interdisciplinary approach has become popular and an enlightened dialogue among all of the actors of society is strongly promoted. In facing increasingly complex societal developments, the role of science undoubtedly is fundamental. Understanding our surroundings, participating in its development and ultimately improving our quality of life, is based on the cultural integration of science and technology in a society.
Academies are responsible for providing the rational skeleton to governmental and political decision makers, in charge of solving current and future challenges: from food distribution and supply to a reliable health care system, from pollution control to sustainable mobility and energy supply. On a voluntary basis, scientists from our country’s higher education institutions and research provide their expertise to our Academies. The long-term availability of high-quality scientific knowledge in the service of society can only be ensured by promoting and coaching young talents. Finally, yet importantly, our mission reflects the importance of academic autonomy and freedom. The interference of the State in the scientific enterprise is a common danger that must be faced and avoided. This noble goal forms the cornerstone of most national constitutions around the globe, including Switzerland.
With these thoughts, I wish you all an enjoyable meeting in Baku and we look forward to seeing the Eurasian Academy to go from success to success.

Then the floor was given to several guests for congratulatory remarks. Guests who spoke included Mr. Huseyn Baghirov, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources; Prof. Victor Tsvirkun, Chairman of the Section of Humanities and Arts of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova; Dr. Orkan Hasekioglu, Vice President of TUBITAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey; Prof. Fahrettin Keleştimur, Head of Turkish Health Institutes and member of Turkish National Academy of Sciences; Prof. Nodar Mitagvaria, member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences; and Prof. Isa Habibeyli, Vice President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Then it was announced that the founding members had selected the Academy’s first member. The floor was given to Prof. Hamlet Isaxanli. He announced that Prof. Ali Javan, citizen of the USA, had been selected for membership and made a presentation about his academic activities. Prof. Javan was unable to participate because of health challenges, so Mr. Stephen Guice, Head of Public Affairs of the American Embassy to Azerbaijan, accepted the Eurasian Legend and its document on his behalf.
Khazar University presented a carpet with a portrait of Nizami which was made in the Khazar University Cultural Center by students and teachers as a gift to Eurasian Academy. The carpet was designed by textile artist Afag Kerimova, the director of the Cultural Center.
Then the founders thanked designer and textile artist Mrs. Afaq Kermiova, the designer of the Eurasian Legend Award and Eurasia Medals, as well as Mrs. Nailakhanim Isayeva, Advisor to the Khazar University Board of Directors and Trustees, who designed the Eurasian Academy ceremonial dress.
Thus, a historic event took place along with the participation of distinguished people from Azerbaijan and various countries: Eurasia Academy started its activities and was presented to the public.
